Juventus vs. Real Madrid

Juventus enters the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals after advancing past Monaco on aggregate in the quarterfinals and Dortmund in the round of 16. Juve, which finished second in Group A, also most recently defeated Sampdoria four its fourth straight Serie A title on Saturday.

Before 0–0 draw at Monaco on April 22, Juventus won 1–0 on April 14 thanks to a penalty goal by Arturo Vidal.

Real Madrid, which can become the first team to win consecutive titles in the current Champions League format that has existed since 1992, advanced past Schalke and Atlético to reach the Champions League semis. A tense 1–0 win over Atlético in the second leg of the quarters gave Real Madrid, which won Group B, the boost after a draw on April 14. Mexican striker Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez scored the decisive goal.

Last season, Real Madrid won Group B while Juventus finished third. While Real Madrid went on to defeat Atlético 4–1 in the Champions League final, Juventus was unable to advance past the group stage.
