The social media war between the New York Red Bulls and New York City FC continues to heat up ahead of the clubs' first meeting in MLS on Sunday.

After the Red Bulls called out NYCFC fans for needing a chant sheet instead of just knowing what to sing during games, NYCFC's supporters group returned serve by reminding the Red Bulls that their fans did the same in 1996. A day later, the Red Bulls got back on the front foot.

The club tweeted out video of NYCFC midfielder Sebastian Velasquez drinking, of all things, a Red Bull while sitting on the bench in Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Seattle Sounders at Yankee Stadium.

For now, the energy drink is just fuel to the fire before the first kick of this budding rivalry.
