U.S. men's national team forward Clint Dempsey scored his third goal of the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup in the 47th minute of Friday's match against Haiti, giving the Americans a 1–0 lead early in the second half en route to a victory by that scoreline.

Gyasi Zardes, who had been in the game for less than a minute after coming on as a halftime substitute for Jozy Altidore, assisted Dempsey on the goal with a nifty cut-back pass after taking down the ball and heading toward the end line. For Dempsey, it marked his fourth straight U.S. game with a goal, and it brought his international total to 44, 13 shy of Landon Donovan's U.S. record of 57.

With the win over Haiti, the Americans cemented a first-place finish in their group and advanced to the knockout stage, securing a favorable path ahead of Monday's game against Panama.

The USA is attempting to win its second straight Gold Cup, which would automatically clinch a berth in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.
