Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho told BT Sport that he doesn't know if striker Diego Costa will be available or not for the start of the Premier League season, according to Fox Sports.
Costa sat out of Sunday's Community Shield match against Arsenal with a hamstring injury. Chelsea opens Premier League play on Saturday against Swansea City.
“I don't know if Diego Costa will be available for the start of the season,” Mourinho said. “He had a little problem after the Barcelona game. After that he was training normally and we thought he would be ready, but this morning he was feeling uncomfortable.”
During the 2014–15 Premier League season, Costa tallied 20 goals and three assists for Chelsea, the former of which was was third-best mark in the league. The 26-year-old previously played for Atletico Madrid before signing with Chelsea last year.
Chelsea heads into the 2015–16 season as the reigning Premier League champions.
