Athletic Bilbao took an early lead over Barcelona in the opening leg of the Spanish Super Cup thanks to an audacious strike by Mikel San Jose.

The Athletic Bilbao midfielder was first to a long header from Barcelona goalkeeper Marc Andre ter-Stegen, and with the German well off his line, San Jose did his finest Carli Lloyd impression.

San Jose settled the ball, looked up and drove a ball from the center circle that found the back of the net in the 13th minute, sending the San Mames Barria crowd into a frenzy and putting the favorites on the back foot early on.
