Miami FC names Alessandro Nesta as first head coach
Miami FC has named Alessandro Nesta as the franchise's first head coach, the team announced on Monday.
Nesta was a highly regarded soccer player known for his defensive skills as he made over 400 Serie A appearances for Lazio and A.C. Milan. He also spent time in Major League Soccer with the Montreal Impact. Nesta was also a part of the 2006 World Cup championship team for Italy. In 2004, he appeared on FIFA's list of 100 greatest living players.
"I'm privileged to be allowed the opportunity to help establish Miami FC and bring it to the forefront of the NASL,” Nesta said.
This is Nesta's first coaching job.
The team slated begin play in the North American Soccer League in the 2016 spring season.
