A friendly between heated Argentine rivals River Plate and Boca Juniors turned violent Saturday night when a headbutt on Carlos Tevez sparked a massive brawl.

Three Boca players had already been sent off when River Plate’s Jonathan Maidana headbutted Tevez in the 78th minute. Maidana was given a red card, as was River’s Leonardo Pisculichi.

The River Plate-Boca Juniors rivalry, known as the Superclasico, is notoriously heated. During a match in May, four River players were sent to the hospital after being pepper sprayed by fans during the game.

Tevez, who began his career with Boca Juniors, played for Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus before rejoining his hometown club this summer.
