Guangzhou Evergrande has signed Jackson Martinez from Atletico Madrid, the team announced Wednesday.
Martinez will now move to the Chinese club less than a year after signing with Atletico. The deal is worth $46 million, which is reportedly the largest transfer fee a team from Asia has ever paid.
Atletico paid $38 million to acquire Martinez from Porto. With the Portuguese club, Martinez lead the league in scoring with 67 goals over three seasons. He struggled during his time with Atletico, scoring two goals in 15 appearances.
