Villarreal and Liverpool are fighting for a place in the UEFA Europa League final, but there were bigger developments off the field this week, and Villarreal's fans took the time to acknowledge that.

A jury ruled Tuesday that the 96 victims of the Hillsborough disaster were unlawfully killed, ending a 27-year battle for the families of the victims. Villarreal fans made a classy gesture, holding up a club-themed banner paying tribute to the 96 victims with Liverpool's "You'll Never Walk Alone" motto.

The two sides played the first leg of their Europa League semifinal at El Madrigal in Spain, before shifting the series to Anfield next week.

Shakhtar Donetsk and two-time defending champion Sevilla are dueling in the other semifinal.
