Injured Uruguay forward Luis Suarez was livid to be on the bench and unused during Thursday’s 1–0 loss to Venezuela in Copa America.

Suarez was evidently listed as inactive prior to the match, but apparently unaware of that fact. Cameras caught him throwing a tantrum on the sidelines late in the match, which dropped Uruguay to 0–2–0 in the tournament and on the brink of elimination.

Uruguay manager Oscar Tabarez said after the match that the decision not to play Suarez was purely a medical one, but he neglected to elaborate on whether he was ineligible to play to begin with.

The Barcelona star has not played since the Copa del Rey final last month due to a hamstring injury, but could be nearing a return.

He might be able to play against Jamaica in Uruguay's group finale, but it doesn't matter. Uruguay needed Jamaica to defeat Mexico on Thursday night to have a chance to stay alive, but Mexico won 2-0 to seal both Uruguay and Jamaica's fate.

Suarez warmed up throughout the second half. His tantrum came after Uruguay used its final substitution.
