Watch: France routs Iceland 5-2 in Euro 2016 quarterfinals

Watch all the key moments and goals as France and Iceland battle in the Euro 2016 quarterfinals.

Euro 2016 host France has a high-profile semifinal date against Germany after writing the end to the tournament's Cinderella story in emphatic fashion in order to get there.

France thrashed Iceland 5-2 in their quarterfinal in Paris, with Olivier Giroud scoring twice, and Paul Pogba, Dimitri Payet and Antoine Griezmann each scoring as well for Les Bleus. France jumped out to a 4-0 lead by halftime and never was threatened, though Iceland fought to the end, getting second-half goals from Kolbeinn Sigthorsson and Birkir Bjarnason.

Iceland chose the same starting XI for the fifth straight game, while France was without the suspended Adil Rami and N'Golo Kante and gave Samuel Umtiti his first cap as a starter in central defense.

Giroud got France off to a dream start in the 12th minute. He was played over the top by Blaise Matuidi, took his time and buried a left-footed shot off the bounce from a left-sided angle to open the scoring and net France's first in the first half all tournament:

Paul Pogba made it 2-0 soon after. The under-fire superstar headed home Griezmann's corner kick in the 20th minute, putting Iceland under immense pressure:

Payet and Griezmann added a pair of daggers for France just before halftime. First, Griezmann laid off a ball for Payet at the top of the box, and he took a touch to his left before scoring with a low blast. Griezmann then was played over the top and he chipped goalkeeper Hannes Thor Halldorsson for France's fourth of the opening 45 minutes. The goal was also Griezmann's fourth of the tournament, propelling him to the top of the Golden Boot table:

Iceland earned a consolation goal early in the second half, momentarily making it 4-1 through Sigthorsson in the 56th minute. Gylfi Sigurdsson played a ball onto the near post, and Sigthorsson stabbed it home with his sliding effort, giving the Iceland faithful in Reykjavik something to cheer about:

That reprieve barely lasted three minutes. Payet's free kick was met by Giroud at the edge of the six-yard box, and he beat Halldorsson to the spot to head home his second and make it 5-1:

Iceland left with honor, with Bjarnason tallying his second goal of the competition to make it 5-2:
