Barcelona and Sampdoria met in the annual Joan Gamper Trophy game, and in this match, Lionel Messi reminded us all just how good he is at what he does.

Messi played it across the field, crept into the box, popped very open, and sprinkled in a brilliant bit of pass-work with an overhead kick that guessed it, Luis Suarez.

The big Uruguayan netted an easy finish and the game’s first goal. The blonde hair has not diminished Messi’s vision whatsoever, even if it’s affected ours.

Barcelona went on to win 3–2 in the friendly. It opens play in La Liga a week from Saturday against Real Betis and also play Sevilla in the Spanish Super Cup on Aug. 14 and 17.

Expect a lot more of this.
