Barcelona looks to recover and rebound from the surprising 2–1 loss to Alaves on Saturday as they take on Celtic in their Champions League group stage opener.

Barcelona opted to rest most of their starters in their last game which left the Catalans playing with mainly substitutes over the weekend. Relief comes in the form of Lionel Messi, who could be back in action as he looks to return from a groin injury, potentially marking the first occasion of the season in which Neymar, Messi and Luis Suarez start alongside each other.

Celtic enters having disposed of rival Rangers with a 5–1 win on Saturday. The team was led by a hat-trick from Moussa Dembele. Celtic is expected to be without forward Leigh Griffiths as the club takes on Barcelona.
