Argentina looks to move up in the CONMEBOL standings as it hosts Paraguay in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match on Tuesday night.

In a three-way tie for third place in the CONMEBOL table, Argentina (4–1–4, 16 points) hasn't dropped a World Cup qualifying match since its opening round loss to Ecuador last October. The team's last two games ended in draws, including a 2–2 deadlock with Peru last Thursday.

Paraguay (3–3–3, 12 points) sits in sixth place in the CONMEBOL standings, just behind Argentina. The top four teams automatically qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Argentina star Lionel Messi is expected to miss the match as he nurses a groin injury. The injury has kept Messi sidelined for Argentina's last two games.

The match will take place at Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes in Córdoba.
