The car Travis Kvapil was set to drive in Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway was stolen early Friday morning from a hotel parking lot, according to reports.

Team Xtreme Racing did not have a backup car available and withdrew the No. 44 car from the race. Police told the Associated Press that the car was inside a trailer attached to a black Ford pickup truck parked at the hotel.

Video showed the the truck leaving the lot with the trailer at around 5:30 a.m., according to the AP. The AP notes that a police report showed that the trailer also contained a spare engine worth $100,000 and more than $17,000 of racing equipment.

"I just can't believe it. I'm sure that whoever stole it had no idea they were getting a Cup car and a spare engine," Kvapilsaid, according to ESPN. "There's a lot of money inside that little trailer right now. For the team's sake and John Cohen's sake, hopefully the parts and pieces can be recovered or it will be a really huge setback for the team."

Team Xtreme Racing owner John Cohen told USA Today that the team will enter the next Sprint Cup race in Las Vegas. Kvapil tweeted about the alleged theft on Friday:

One of Kvapil's team sponsors, Vic Keller, has offered a reward for the person who finds the car.
