Jordan Taylor takes pole in Monterey

MONTEREY, Calif. (AP) Jordan Taylor took the pole position Saturday for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship's Monterey Grand Prix on Sunday at Mazda Raceway.

Coming off a victory April 18 in Long Beach, Taylor turned a lap in 1 minute, 18.718 seconds in the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype that he shares with brother Ricky.

''It's good to start out front, ''but we'll be the first to hit the lapped traffic,'' Jordan Taylor said.

Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates' Ford EcoBoost Riley DP, driven by Scott Pruett and Joey Hand, qualified second - 0.222 seconds back on the 2.238-mile course.

In GT Le Mans, the No. 25 BMW Z4 GTLM driven by Bill Auberlen and Dirk Werner topped the field. They also won at Long Beach.

Patrick Lindsey put the No. 73 Park Place Porsche 911 GT America car he shares with Spencer Pumpelly atop the GT Daytona lineup for the 2-hour, 40-minute race.
