Reigning NBA MVP Derrick Rose was the passenger in a car that was involved in a DUI arrest late last night in Los Angeles, California, reports TMZ.

The Chicago Bulls point guard was reportedly in the passenger seat when his close friend and former high school teammate, Randall Hampton, was stopped for a routine traffic violation. Officers reportedly smelled the odor of alcohol and Hampton was given a field sobriety test. He was later arrested. Rose, 23, helped lead the Chicago Bulls to the top seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs last season. He was named the youngest-ever league MVP after averaging 25 points and 7.7 assists per game for Chicago last year.
