In an interview with SNY.tv Tuesday night, Louisville coach Rick Pitino stressed the importance of rebuilding the Big East as a basketball power, according to Adam Zagoria. In doing so, he suggested that the Big East not pass on pursuing Temple and Memphis for membership.

"We must take Temple and Memphis into the Big East,” Pitino said. “We must replace Syracuse, Pitt and West Virginia, if that’s the case, with Temple and Memphis. One Top 10 program, the other a Top 30 program that fit into everything we are all about.”

Pitino went on to say that West Virginia's purported move to the Big 12 was not necessarily definite yet. Multiple reports Tuesday said that West Virginia would be moving to the Big 12 to replace Missouri, which is headed to the SEC. “There’s a lot of things out there that may not necessarily be true,” he said. “I’m not sure what the landscape will be in a couple days, but I can assure you that it’s not 100 percent that West Virginia is going anywhere.”
