No. 1 LSU didn't need running back Spencer Ware or defensive backs Tyrann Mathieu and Tharold Simon when they blasted Auburn 45-10 last weekend. But they may need them the first week of November when they visit No. 2 Alabama. On Tuesday, LSU coach Les Miles announced that the trio had returned to practice.

The players were suspended for violating the school's drug policy. Miles expects all three to play against Alabama Nov. 5.

Ware has led the Tigers in rushing this year, going 512 yards and six touchdowns. Simon has recorded 29 tackles and an interception, while Mathieu has been one of the country's most dynamic players defensively.

Mathieu has forced four fumbles on the year, returning two for touchdowns. He also has two interceptions and 42 tackles. LSU is 8-0 on the season, including victories over both BCS Championship participants from a year ago. Alabama, also 8-0, has defeated three ranked teams thus far. Both teams will be coming off a bye week in advance of their primetime showdown in Tuscaloosa.
