Bears Release Safety Chris Harris

The Chicago Bears have released veteran safety Chris Harris, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Harris confirmed the Bears roster move in a tweet, "I was just released this morning by the Bears. Thank u for the opp to play football n do what I luv. I'm looking toward my next venture"

The release comes after Harris was benched for his poor performance on Monday Night Football against the Detroit Lions and was listed as inactive for the game against the Minnesota Vikings. Reports claim that Harris had asked for permission to seek a trade, but eventually decided to finish the season with the Bears. The reason behind the release remains unclear.

The seven-year veteran spent four seasons with the Bears and amassed 416 tackles, 12 forced fumbles and 15 sacks in his career.
