St. Louis Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said Sunday that the team will exercise Yadier Molina's option, according to MLB.com. The decision is expected to officially be made Monday.

The option will earn Molina $7 million in 2012, and there is a $750,000 buyout clause. It will also mark the final year of Molina's contract, which he signed in 2008. Molina, 29, had one of his best offensive years in 2011, hitting .305 with 14 homeruns and 65 RBI.
