Red Sox Pick Up Scutaro's Option

The Boston Red Sox have confirmed that they have agreed to pick up Marco Scutaro's 2012 option for $6 million. The news was first reported by Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald.

This is effectively the first move for GM Michael Cherington, who took over the club after Theo Epstein left for Chicago.
