The Big East conference is now mired in a legal battle over one of their current members, but multiple media outlets are reporting that the league could add as many as six schools to the conference during their annual meeting of chancellors and presidents Tuesday in Philadelphia.
The potential invitees vary greatly in proximity, but they would bolster a conference that is on the verge of collapsing. The expectation is that six schools will receive invitations. For all sports, Central Florida, SMU, and Houston are expected to be asked while Air Force, Boise State, and Navy are expected to receive football only invitations.
In the last few months, the Big East has lost Syracuse and Pittsburgh to the ACC, and West Virginia recently accepted a bid to join the Big 12.
