Suspended NASCAR Driver Mayfield Arrested On Methamphetamine Charges

Former NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield was reportedly arrested Tuesday on drug charges, according to WBTV Catawba, North Carolina.

According to the report from WBTV, Mayfield was arrested by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office on possession of methamphetamine charges. The drugs were found when officers were executing a search warrant on a tip that suggested there were stolen goods in Mayfield’s house.

The 42-year-old was suspended by NASCAR as both a driver and an owner in May of 2009 after testing positive for the use of methamphetamine in a random drug test. After temporarily having his suspension lifted in July of 2009, he was suspended again just 15 days later after testing positive once again for the illegal narcotic.
