U.S. Department Of Education To Investigate Allegations of Sexual Abuse At Penn State
The United States Department of Education has announced an investigation into the sex offense scandal that has rocked Penn State. The investigation will attempt to determine if the university failed to comply with certain policies that require schools to disclose crimes that occur on campus.
"If these allegations of sexual abuse are true then this is a horrible tragedy for those young boys," education secretary Arne Duncan said in statement released Wednesday. "If it turns out that some people at the school knew of the abuse and did nothing or covered it up, that makes it even worse. Schools and school officials have a legal and moral responsibility to protect children and young people from violence and abuse." Penn State was notified of the investigation Wednesday.
