Report: Matt Cassel Could Be Out For The Year With Hand Injury

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley said quarterback Matt Cassel suffered a significant injury and could miss the rest of the season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Cassel did not play for the Chiefs in their final series in a 17-10 loss to the Denver Broncos Sunday. According to reports, the 29-year-old left the stadium with his hand right wrapped after the game.

The former seventh-round pick was just 13 of 28 for 93 yards and a touchdown in the loss. Though nine games this season he has posted a 76.6 quarterback rating and has thrown for 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Tyler Palko filled in for Cassel in the Chiefs' final drive of the game. The 28-year-old completed five of six passes for 47 yards. Last year he only attempted six passes but completed four for 35 yards.
