Social media provides many ways for athletes to let fans behind the scenes, from the interesting to the banal. Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia straddled the line between the two extremes by tweeting a link to a video of himself officially signing his contract extension to remain with the Yankees.
"Finally put the pen to the paper last week making my stay in New York official," Sabathia wrote. The video shows Sabathia signing a piece of paper in what appears to be a storage room in a hotel, showing the basic blunt truth of what can sound like a formal, ritual event.
The contract extension was reported at the end of October. Sabathia has won 59 games in three years with the Yankees.
