According to a statement from Syracuse University senior vice president for public affairs Kevin Quinn, assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine has been fired by the university.

The statement, which was posted on the school's official website, reads in full:

At the direction of Chancellor Cantor, Bernie Fine’s employment with Syracuse University has been terminated, effective immediately.
Three separate individuals had come forward to accuse Fine of child sexual abuse, and audio recordings of his wife and one of the accusers appear to lend credence to at least one of the claims. Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim had previously offered steadfast support for Fine.
