The Cleveland Indians are interested in signing former Los Angeles Dodgers' utility man Casey Blake, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Blake played for the Indians from 2003 until 2008, when he was shipped to the Dodgers.
The Dodgers refused to pick up Blake's option after the season, deciding instead to buyout his contract and make him a free agent. Blake, 38, hit .252/.342/.371 last season in LA, with only four home runs and 26 RBI in 63 games. His versatility -- Blake can play various infield positions as well as some corner outfield -- and right-handed bat are cited as reasons why the Indians are high on him.
