Chicago Bears wide receiver Devin Hester told Mike and Mike in the Morning he believes signing recently waived quarterback Donovan McNabb would be a “waste of time,” NBC Sports reports.
“It’s going to be tough right now to pick up a quarterback that hasn’t played in the Mike Martz offense,” Hester told the show. “This is a difficult offense to run, so as far as a quarterback who hasn’t played in the offense, right now it’s going to be a waste of time.”
“We’re going to stick with the guys we got right now and hope we get better with those guys,” Hester continued.
The Bears reeled off a five game winning streak prior to losing quarterback Jay Cutler to a season ending thumb injury. Since backup Caleb Hanie assumed the starting role, the Bears have posted two consecutive losses. The Bears currently hold a 7-5 record and sit second in the NFC North behind the undefeated Green Bay Packers.
