The New England fans were surprisingly cordial to injured superstar Peyton Manning  when the Indianapolis Colts visited the Patriots at Foxborough on Sunday, but they weren't quite so pleasant to a player who was once one of their own: kicker Adam Vinatieri.

According to Jeff Howe of NESN.com, Vinatieri was serenaded with boos throughout his lone field goal attempt on the day, which prompted someone to ask if he felt like Johnny Damon, a former Boston Red Sox hero who joined the rival New York Yankees, returning to Fenway.

"Well, yes but no," Vinatieri said, according to Howe. "I mean, I never played for the Yankees, so I think it's a little bit more of a hatred." Vinatieri played for the Patriots from 1996 to 2005, earning Super Bowl rings in 2001, 2003, and 2004, before signing as a free agent with the Colts in 2006.
