Free-agent reliever Todd Coffey is unsure if he will return to the Washington Nationals, MLB.com reports.
Coffey hopes to have a discussion with Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo during this week’s Winter Meetings to assess where he stands with the organization.
"In my heart of hearts, if it's the right contract, I would look to definitely come back to the Nationals," Coffey, 31, told reporters.
If a deal with the Nationals cannot be reached, baseball sources indicate that there are at least two teams in the National League and three in the American League that appear to have shown interest in the services of the right-hander. Last season, Coffey posted a 3.62 ERA in 69 appearances with the Nationals.
