David Ortiz Has Not Accepted Arbitration From The Red Sox

Contrary to a popular ESPN Deportes reportthe Boston Globe is reporting that Ortiz has not yet accepted arbitration from the Boston Red Sox. The paper reports that neither Red Sox team officials nor the MLB Players Association have been told by Ortiz that he will accept arbitration.

Both the Red Sox and Ortiz have been open to the left-handed slugger re-signing with the club, whether that be through arbitration or a two-year contract. If Ortiz were to accept Boston’s arbitration offer, he would have to do so by the midnight deadline tonight.

It is believed Ortiz would prefer to sign a two-year deal worth $25 million, however, it is unclear if the Red Sox would like to pay that much for the 36-year-old All-Star.
