Free-agent shortstop Jimmy Rollins is reportedly close to a deal that will allow him to return to the Philadelphia Phillies, according to a tweet by Chris Singleton of ESPN.

“Got a pretty encouraging report from a #phillies person that a deal will get done with @jimmyrollins11 soon. #goodness,” the tweet read. Last season in 142 games, the 33-year-old Rollins hit .268/.338/.399 with 16 home runs and 87 runs scored. The former National League Most Valuable Player has a career 162 game average of .272/.329/.432 with 17 home runs and 107 runs scored.
