The Boston Red Sox are still interested in free-agent closer Ryan Madson, according to a tweet from Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.

“Red sox won’t give ryan madson “crazy money” according to one team official but remain interested,” the tweet read.

The Red Sox are looking to fill their closer position after longtime stopper Jonathan Papelbon bolted in free-agency to sign with the Philadelphia Phillies. Madson, formerly the Phillies closer himself, is currently looking for a job as a team’s closer.

The Miami Marlins had previously expressed interest in his services, but with the recent signing of closer Heath Bell it is unlikely they will continue to pursue him. The eight-year veteran had played his entire MLB career with the Philadelphia Phillies and as a closer last season amassed 32 saves with a 2.37 ERA.
