The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are on the verge of signing relief pitcher LaTroy Hawkins, according to a tweet from Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com.

The 38-year old Hawkins has spent the last two years with the Milwaukee Brewers, compiling a 3.92 ERA in 70 appearances over that span.  His 2011 season was particularly strong, a 2.42 ERA in 52 appearances, good for a 3-1 records. Hawkins is currently third among active pitchers in games played, trailing just Mariano Rivera (1,042) and Arthur Rhodes (900).
