On his  way to becoming the youngest-ever NBA MVP, Rose averaged 25 points, 7.7 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game, and led the Bulls to the top seed in the playoffs, where they ultimately lost to the Miami Heat in the Conference Finals. Rose was taken with the first overall selection in the 2008 NBA Draft and would become a restricted free agent following the 2011-12 NBA season.
