The Detroit Pistons have waived Richard Hamilton, according to a tweet from the team’s official account.

Hamilton, 33, had played nine seasons for the Pistons, helping them win an NBA Championship in 2004. The three-time All-Star averaged 18.7 points and 4.1 assists in 55 games for Detroit last year. His best season for the Pistons came in 2002-03 when he averaged 22.3 points per game.
Hamilton was originally drafted by the Washington Wizards with the No. 7 pick in the 1999 NBA Draft, and was traded to Detroit for Jerry Stackhouse following the 2001-02 season.
