Joseph Addai: Peyton Manning’s Short Throws “Good Enough To Play”

Indianapolis Colts running back Joseph Addai said on Wednesday that injured quarterback Peyton Manning’s short throws are game-ready, according to ESPN. Manning has been throwing before or after practice.

"He's not throwing deep-level passes, but the short stuff is really good enough to play," Addai said.

Colts vice chairman Bill Polian said earlier this week that Manning would not play in the team’s final two games and head coach Jim Caldwell said yesterday that Manning would not participate in full-team workouts before the season finale on Jan. 1, according to ESPN.

Polian added on Tuesday that Manning’s throws looked good and confirmed that Manning’s short throws had good velocity, according to ESPN.

Last week, Manning did a post-practice workout that included taking snaps from center Jeff Saturday and throwing to Addai and wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez.

Manning has not played in a game since his neck surgery on Sept. 8.

"He's coming along good," Addai said. "He's looking good and he throws a good ball."
