The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially named Charlie Batch as their starter for this weekend’s game against the St. Louis Rams, reports the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Roethlisberger has been battling ankle and thumb injuries over the past several weeks. He did start on Monday night against the San Francisco 49ers, a decision that was deemed questionable by many.
The 29-year-old threw for 330 yards and three interceptions in the 20-3 Steelers’ loss.
“I’ve said many times I want to go and I’ll try and be … ready to go,” Roethlisberger told NFL.com earlier this week.
Batch started two games for the Steelers in 2010 as a result of Roethlisberger’s suspension. In total, he threw for 352 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions.
