Pierce, 34, has been battling with a bruised heel since the team’s first full-squad practice earlier this month. He has not been 100 percent since suffering the injury, and was forced to sit out a 104-106 Celtics loss to the New York Knicks on opening day.

The Celtics’ star swingman averaged 18.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in 80 contests for the Celtics last season. Over the course of his 13-year-career with Boston, he has averaged 22.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
