The Minnesota Vikings have announced Rick Spielman as their new general manager, according to a tweet from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Spielman has previously served as the Vikings’ vice president of player personnel since May of 2006. In that position he has overseen the drafting of current centerpieces such as Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin. Spielman has also worked in the front offices for the Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, and Miami Dolphins.
