LaDainian Tomlinson Admits He's "Contemplating Retirement" After 11 Seasons

After 11 seasons in the NFL, five Pro Bowl selections and one MVP award, LaDainian Tomlinson is considering calling it a career.

"I am contemplating retirement," Tomlinson said today in a radio interview in San Diego. "That’s what I told my coaches and told my agent. That’s exactly what it is. This is the first time in my playing career that I’ve actually honestly thought ... This may be it for me. That’s kind of where I am right now."

After nine productive seasons with the Chargers, Tomlinson has struggled a bit with the Jets these last two years. He had his worst season to date in 2011, attempting just 75 carries for 280 yards and one touchdown, all career lows.

Tomlinson has never been to a Super Bowl in his career. He's come close twice -- the Jets lost the AFC title game to the Steelers last year, and the 2007 Chargers came up short against the Patriots. He said today he would consider playing for a team with "hope" of winning it all, but barring that, he could be done.
