Boston Celtics forward Jeff Green underwent successful surgery Monday to repair a potentially life threatening aeortic aneurysm, according to the Boston Globe.

"Surgery went well," Celtics head coach Doc Rivers told the Globe. "They're saying it went great. Obviously, our thoughts, our prayers and every part of our being is with Jeff right now."

Doctors found the aneurysm during a routine physical with the team in December. The condition, which if unfound could have been potentially fatal, is believed to force Green out for the entirety of the 2011-12 season.

Last season Green averaged 13.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in 75 contests between the Boston Celtics and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
