Bartolo Colon Signs One-Year Contract With Oakland Athletics

Bartolo Colon is 38 years old and counting, but he's still alive and kicking in the major leagues. ESPN's Jayson Stark reported today that Colon has agreed to a one-year contract with the Oakland A's.

After missing a season and a half with elbow injuries, Colon caught on with the Yankees last year, going 8-10 with a 4.00 ERA in 29 appearances. The Yankees expressed interest in re-signing him, and the Diamondbacks kicked the tires as well, but Colon opted to sign with the A's on a short-term major league deal.

Colon has a good shot at making the Oakland rotation -- the A's are short of arms since trading away Gio Gonzalez and Trevor Cahill this winter.
