Caron Butler Almost Signed With The Miami Heat This Winter

Los Angeles Clippers forward Caron Butler almost signed with the Miami Heat this offseason, according to the Sun Sentinel.

"I was very close to coming back," Butler told the paper. "It was very close. I talked to my agent and I went to visit San Antonio and after I went to visit New Jersey, my next visit would have been Miami."

"The Clippers had put an offer on the table that I couldn't refuse," Butler continued.

The 31-year-old was originally drafted by the Heat in 2002, but was shipped to the Los Angeles Lakers before his third season in the deal that brought Shaquille O’Neal to Miami. The Heat would go on to win an NBA championship that season, while Butler would eventually move on to sign with the Washington Wizards.
