Report: Athletics Sign Jonny Gomes To Major League Deal

The Oakland Athletics have signed free-agent outfielder/designated hitter Jonny Gomes, according to CBS Sports.

Gomes hit .209/.325/.389 with 14 home runs and 43 RBI in 120 games between the Cincinnati Reds and the Washington Nationals last season. It is believed he will have a better value in the American League where he can not only play outfield but can also serve as a designated hitter against left-handed starters.
