Bears Interview Chiefs Scout Phil Emery For Open GM Position

The Chicago Bears completed their first round of interviews to fill their open general manager position, holding an interview today with Kansas City Chiefs director of college scouting Phil Emery, according to ESPN Chicago.

Other candidates to speak with the Bears this week included director of player personnel Tim Ruskell plus three outside candidates -- New England Patriots director of pro personnel Jason Licht, San Diego Chargers director of player personnel Jimmy Raye, New York Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross.

Emery previously worked for the Bears as a collegiate talent evaluator between 1998 and 2004. He also served as the Atlanta Falcons' director of college scouting for five seasons between 2004 and '08. He's perhaps best known as the scout who brought Matt Ryan to Atlanta in the '08 draft.
