All-Star point guard Deron Williams has a short list of teams he would like to end up with if a long-term deal doesn’t work out with the Nets, according to ESPN New York.
Williams’ list reportedly includes the Dallas Mavericks, the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers. He is set to become a free agent following this season.
Although Williams has publicly talked about his desire to stay with the Nets, his future with the team has a lot to do with whether or not the club is able to surround him with impact players like Dwight Howard. Sources have told ESPN that if the Nets cannot get Howard, Williams will likely go somewhere else. Williams is averaging 18.4 points, 8.4 assists and 3.4 rebounds this season. Over the course of his career he has averaged 17.2 points, 9.2 assists and 3.2 rebounds.
