The Dallas Stars announced today that the team has agreed to terms with Alex Goligoski on a four-year, $18.4 million contract extension.

The 26-year-old is in his second season with the Stars and his fifth in the league. Through 36 games this year the defenseman has tallied five goals and 10 assists for the Stars. Last season in 83 games between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Dallas, Goligoski tallied 14 goals, 32 assists, and had a +20 plus/minus rating.

Goligoski was originally drafted in the second round by the Penguins in the 2004 NFL draft, and made his debut in the 2007-08 8season. The Stars currently stand at 24-21-2 and are in 11th place in the Western Conference.
